Soft tissue injuries caused by car accidents

Car accidents result in many different types of injuries. Some can prove to be fatal, while others are relatively minor. Getting behind the wheel of a car puts you at risk of car accidents and injuries associated with these accidents.

Soft tissue injuries are very common during car accidents. These are wounds in the soft areas of the body. Soft areas include ligaments, muscles and tendons. Some common examples of soft tissue injuries are minor sprains at your joints, contusions and muscle strains. In most cases, these injuries are minor and do not take too long to heal. They are usually caused due to jolts or bumps that take place due to the impact of the accident.

By far the most common type of soft tissue injury caused by car accidents is whiplash. It takes place when there is a rear end collision and the head and neck moves back and forth in a violent manner. Whiplash results in severe neck pain, stiffness and back problems. Although whiplash may seem minor at first, it could lead to significant injury in the future. It is important to get your back and neck checked by a doctor after a read end collision. Treatment for whiplash usually includes physical therapy, muscle relaxant medicines and immobilization.

Stress injuries caused by car accidents can have harmful long-term effects. If you have been in a serious car accident, it is advisable to discuss your situation with an experienced attorney. The attorney will assess your accident and try to get you compensated for the injury and medical expenses.
