Speed kills

The need for speed can be compelling and addictive. Unfortunately, it can also be deadly. Investigators suspect speeds upward of 100 miles per hour resulted in a loss of control for a vehicle that inevitably went airborne and struck two other cars, injuring and killing those within it as well as the unsuspecting occupants of the other vehicles.

According to reports, a 26-year old man was traveling east on the LIE at a high rate of speed, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle, subsequently careening it through the median and into the path of oncoming traffic. It struck two other cars. The loss of control may have been contributed to by a change in the surface of the road resulting in alarm and causing the driver to over brake, which could be disastrous when at such a high speed.

The crash killed the man and his sister. Three other occupants and all survivors in the other cars were taken to hospitals. Within one of the cars struck was an engaged couple. The man was a one-time aide to Governor Cuomo. He was killed, and his fiancee was injured. The final car hit contained two married couples on their way to a wedding. One married couple was hospitalized and later died.

If you were injured in an accident or you have suffered the ultimate and unending loss of a loved one, you know the grief that has changed the lives of those touched by the senseless tragedy. Medical bills mount and funeral expenses add stress to grief. In addition, lost wages, rehabilitation and other ailments befall the victims, leaving you with a complete sense of hopelessness.
