Car accidents may increase after sunset

On Behalf of | Sep 22, 2020 | Car Accidents |

Drivers are expected to use extra caution at times when visibility is low, such as when it is raining or foggy. One of the most dangerous times to be on the road is dusk, just as the sun is setting. The shadows can be confusing, and a driver’s eyes may have difficulty focusing in the growing darkness. It may be even more difficult to see pedestrians, bicycles and motorcycles at this time of day, and often car accidents are the result.

One man on a motorcycle may have been the unfortunate victim of a driver who failed to see him at a critical moment. The 29-year-old motorcyclist was traveling northbound on a New York avenue around 7:30 p.m. at the same time a 24-year-old man driving a sedan was heading south on the same road. The driver of the automobile attempted a left turn across the motorcyclist’s lane and collided with the biker.

Both the driver of the car and his passenger were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. However, the motorcycle operator suffered serious injuries. Emergency responders took him to the hospital where he died of his injuries a short time later. Police continue to investigate the cause of the accident, but they cited the driver of the car with operating a vehicle without a license.

Family members of those who suffer life-changing or fatal injuries in car accidents often face months or years of hardships. Medical expenses, funeral costs and the loss of income an accident victim provided may be too difficult to overcome. With the assistance and guidance of a compassionate attorney, New York families may find peace of mind in pursuing compensation that may help them deal with the practical matters they face.
