Man falls from second floor and dies

On Behalf of | Jun 9, 2016 | Construction Injuries |

No one should ever be hurt or killed as a result of something as respectable as doing a job. It’s sometimes difficult to get up and go to work, but people do it because they are responsible and have bills to pay, mouths to feed and families to support. It’s this dedication that compels some individuals to work in dangerous conditions where one small step may prove fatal.

While the details are not out as to how the accident took place, a man working construction on the second floor of an estate in New York failed to maintain his balance, which resulted in a 12-foot fall from the second floor. The man struck concrete and ultimately was killed. The estate the man worked at was touted as the most expensive in the United States when it sold in 2014 for a reported $147 million.

In cases like this, it is important to investigate the circumstances of the accident so as to answer many significant questions. For example, were adequate safety measures taken? Was there a safety harness? If there was not, why not? If there was, did it malfunction?

Employers have a duty of care to make sure that their workers are appropriately protected from foreseeable dangers. If you have lost a loved one in a work-related accident, A New York personal injury attorney is able to help you answer those questions. The attorney could work toward seeing that your loved one’s death or injury is awarded the damages it deserves.
