Donald Rehkopf to Lead Brenna Boyce National Security Practice

ROCHESTER, NY, March 16, 2015 - The Law Firm of Brenna Boyce, PLLC, announces the appointment of attorney Donald G. Rehkopf, Jr., to lead the firm's growing national security and security clearance practice.

"Companies and educational institutions in the Rochester and Upstate New York areas are doing more and more business with the federal government. As this market grows, the business dealings between private-sector companies and federal entities (including the military) become more complex, especially where classified information is involved and employees must have security clearances," said Robert Brenna, Jr. "Our current military and civilian clients who do business with the government will gain even greater impact from Don Rehkopf's dynamic leadership given his decades of experience in dealing with the U.S. Government, and this will better position us to provide the very best in local counsel to individual, corporate and educational clients on national security or security clearance issues."

While Brenna Boyce has served clients with ties to the federal government and military for years, this expansion is a strategic one within a growing marketplace where subject-matter expertise is absolutely critical to ensuring success for those clients.

"As more companies and educational institutions get awarded government contracts or grants that deal with classified national security issues, the need for employees with proper security clearances increases proportionally as well," said Don Rehkopf. "For those who have never had a security clearance, the process can be quite intimidating as well as time-consuming. Helping clients efficiently navigate through the regulatory mazes involved benefits all concerned."

Mr. Rehkopf is a retired Air Force judge advocate, having served five years on active duty in the U.S., Korea and Germany and 20 plus years serving in the active Reserves. He has considerable "hands on" experience with classified information and materials, classification and declassification procedures, and all matters surrounding security clearances including restoration of suspended clearances. He is a frequent CLE lecturer and media commentator on the subjects of military justice, criminal trial techniques and professional ethics. He as appeared with a client cleared of espionage charges on "60 Minutes," on C-Span arguing a major national security case appeal and as a guest commentator for CBS Radio. He is a Co-Chair of the Military Law Committee of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers [NACDL], and is a Vice President of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers [NYSACDL].
